Name ring a bell? It reminds you that the band has its roots in the sound of the 1967 Swinging London“ says Fabrizio of Cosmopolitan Greetings Association, one the most important music event-managements in Italy since 1984. A perfect Sixties Mod band headed since 2016 by Happy Betty, an extraordinary Italian singer who has also been the bass player of Italy’s finest freakbeaters „The Victorians“, and by Patrick Nagl from the Austrian R&B legends „The Jaybirds“ who were supporting the Rolling Stones already in 1998. The band’s sound direction is an amazing blend of Psychedelic Rock, Blues Rock a lá John Mayall and Sixties R’n’B.
During the last two years Portobello Express played several shows in the Mod circuit around Austria and Italy and also shared the bill with Heavyball (UK), the Movement (DK) and the Cheekbonians (CH) just to name a few.
After their first single release “Take A Trip On the Beat ‘n’ Soul Train”, on 6th June 2018 the band has released a new EP titled “2-3-4!” on Andy Abrahams (Hallucination Company) label abra FUN music and is now busy on arranging some brand new material for upcoming recording sessions and further live shows.
